Genre Decision Blog
When we talked about how we wanted our film to look, we all had tons of ideas. All these ideas included different genres and character layouts. Obviously some had to be scrapped but the goal was to ultimately have everyone's ideas involved. Being in a group meant that all our ideas were valid and had to be considered in our script. That wasn't what we always thought though. In the beginning when the assignment was first given out we didn't know we were going to be working with each other. In fact it was never our intention. Because of that we all had a million ideas about our own independent films and how they would look. Eventually though we realized that it was a lot of work to do everything by ourselves. So in an effort to avoid stress and get the job done faster we decided putting together our ideas was the best idea possible. This wasn't easy in any way and did cause some stumps along the road. Nonetheless we were determined to do this. We had to listen to each other and take everything said into consideration. We settled on a thriller genre for our film. Yet, that still didn't fit all of our ideas. That never stopped us before though so we just had to think harder. So we had to think longer on how to successfully incorporate EVERYTHING. That's why our opening sequence will be drama. It will include the characters' conflict and hopefully add more layers towards our film. With this genre being the open sequence we successfully made an outline of a film with all our ideas.
