Editing Blog: The Matching Game

Primarily, it was Dezyrae, one of my group members, who was working on the editing aspect of this project. After doing her editing part, she passed over the editing to me. I collected the video from her and imported it into the iMovie app on my iPad. There, I detached the audio from the video itself and made it the background. I began to inspect the video and make note of the editing that way I could mimic it. I wanted to make sure it looked the same and that the video ran smoothly. There was some parts left out in the beginning and the end of the video. This was the left over scenes we needed to film. I began brainstorming ideas on what scenes would go well with the audio. I then discussed with my group. After the filming of those scenes, I simply put a filter on the clips and placed them nicely into the video. There was somewhat of a struggle, which was matching the clips to the beat of the music. As well as matching the lip-syncing to the lyrics. One final issue with this matching game was the matching of the transitions to the each other and the beat of the music as well.

When I received the video to edit, I found that some scenes had a sparkle filter on with a pink tint, while others did not. This is something I fixed by splitting the video into the parts that did no have the filter and saving them to my iPad. After, I went into this application called Prequel and selected the clips I saved one by one. My group and I felt that the filters on the clips should have some sort of meaning. The filter should somewhat represent whoever is in the clip. Because Prequel had many different sparkle effects to choose from, I was able to edit the clips so that it could reflect our personality while maintaining the same overall mood in the video that we wanted. I wanted the video to have a some kind of personalization. This is something every artist does in any work they do. I wanted for my group and I to look at the video and feel proud and connected to what we made. That is what drove me in my editing process and that is what I did.
