Filming Blog: The Final Touch-ups
My group and I had almost completed the filming aspect of our music video. In the beginning of the video, there was a certain part that had not been filmed. It was the transition scene from the instrumental in the intro to the first verse where I would appear. Because the setting was primarily in, my group member, Keren's room, this transition needed to take place in that very room. What my group and I were going for was a quick pan around the room with a tilt in the beginning. We needed this shot to come from the window of the room. This was difficult because of the format of the room. There is a mirror right across from the window. This, along with the bed right beside the window, brought struggles for the filming process of this specific scene. However, to reach our preferred shot, we used low lighting and rapid movement around the mirror area to avoid getting seen in the shot.
The next scenes that needed to be filmed were the ones that I would put in for the outro. The outro was the final instrumental that included adlibs from the artist. My group and I decided that we would each film our individual parts for the outro, which would last only a couple of seconds. There was a transition from the final set of lyrics to the outro. After Keren finished filming her lyrical part, she left room for a smooth transition by placing her shoe over the camera at the final second. Since we decided to edit our shots in order of appearance, I was the one to complete that transition that Keren left. Before filming, I did my make-up and placed on my outfit pertaining to my grunge aesthetic. Then, I set up the camera in a way that seemed like a close up. I began to play to the song that way the filming process was a bit easier. After filming that tiny segment, I collected the rest of the segments my group member's filmed and edited it together.
